PlayStation Plus comes in three tiers: Essential (online multiplayer and monthly games), Extra (adds the game catalogue), and Premium (adds classic games and game trials). The cancellation process is the same for all tiers, but what you lose depends on which tier you are on.

⚠️ Monthly Games Require an Active Subscription

The free monthly games offered through PS Plus are only playable while you have an active subscription. If you cancel, you lose access to all claimed monthly games — even games you claimed years ago. They will return if you resubscribe.

Cancelling via the PlayStation Website

  1. Go to account.playstation.com and sign in.
  2. Go to Subscriptions.
  3. Select your PlayStation Plus subscription.
  4. Click Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts to confirm.

Cancelling via PS5 or PS4

  1. Go to Settings > Account Management > Account Information > PlayStation Subscriptions.
  2. Select PlayStation Plus.
  3. Select Turn Off Auto-Renew and confirm.

Key Points to Know

Online multiplayer

PS Plus is required for online multiplayer on PlayStation. Cancelling removes this access when the subscription expires. Free-to-play games with their own online modes are generally exempt.

Game catalogue (Extra and Premium)

If you are on PS Plus Extra or Premium, you lose access to the game catalogue when your subscription ends. Any games you downloaded from the catalogue will no longer be playable.

Cloud saves

Cloud save data is retained for six months after cancellation. If you resubscribe within that period, your saves will be available. After six months, cloud saves may be deleted — download your saves locally before cancelling if you want to keep them.

Gaming subscriptions like PS Plus can quietly renew year after year. Use Sub-Site to track every recurring payment — privately, with no login required.
