YouTube Premium bundles ad-free YouTube, background play, offline downloads, and YouTube Music Premium into a single subscription. If you are no longer getting value from it, cancelling is straightforward — but where you cancel depends on how you originally subscribed.
Cancelling via YouTube
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships on a computer or mobile browser.
- Sign in to the Google account with the Premium membership.
- Find YouTube Premium and select Cancel membership.
- Follow the prompts to confirm.
Subscribed via an App Store?
If you originally subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you must cancel through that store — YouTube cannot manage those payments directly.
- Apple App Store: Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad.
- Google Play: Open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, and go to Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
Key Points to Know
Billing cycle
You keep access to all Premium benefits until the end of your current paid period. No partial refunds are offered.
YouTube Music is included
Cancelling YouTube Premium also cancels YouTube Music Premium — they are part of the same bundle. If you only want to keep Music, there is no way to separate them; you would need to subscribe to YouTube Music individually.
Ads return on expiry, not on cancellation
Ad-free viewing and offline downloads continue until your paid period ends, not from the moment you cancel.
Family plan
If you are the plan manager, cancelling ends Premium for all family members. Individual members cannot cancel — only the manager can.
It's easy to lose track of bundled subscriptions like YouTube Premium. Use Sub-Site to see all your recurring payments in one place — privately, with no login required.
